From 21-25 July 2025, in Skopje, North Macedonia, within the Regional Capacity Development Network for Water and Sanitation Services (RCDN), GIZ and NALAS co-hosted the Second Generic Training of Trainers (ToT) for Master Trainers.

The intensive programme aimed at enhancing the skills of experienced water professionals and trainers, to enable them serve as multipliers, providing Generic Training of Trainers in local languages and helping to strengthen and expand the training pools of Associations of Municipalities and Public Utility Companies across South-East Europe.

The Master ToT, based on the RCDN Quality Standards, focused on strengthening participants’ skills in developing and delivering participant-centred and interactive trainings, infusing collaboration and co-creation. They learnt how to transfer content related to all skills that a facilitating trainer needs, to be able to make this vision a reality.  

“Embracing the RCDN Quality Standards has truly transformed the way I design and deliver trainings, placing participants at the heart of the process and creating space for meaningful learning. As a Master Trainer, I am proud to bring in local knowledge and support national associations, public utilities, and local governments in growing stronger, more connected, and more responsive to the real needs on the ground”, said Ms. Danche Josheska, Deputy Head of Technical Affairs and Development Sector, Water Supply and Sewage Company from Prilep, North Macedonia.

RCDN capacity development programs also strive to empower young water professionals. “RCDN programs have proven to be extremely valuable from the perspective of young professionals, as I am, developing skills in knowledge sharing, public speaking, and preparing presentations – all of which I have already started applying through the work of Young Water Professionals BiH. This benefits not only me, but also my colleagues, as we immediately translate what we learn into joint progress and development”, said Ms. Nikolina Majdanac, Head of the development, investments, GIS and design Department at UC “Vodovod” JSC Gradiška, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Young Water Professional from AWRS.

The ToT was delivered by Ms. Jelena Janevska, Ms. Vanja Starovlah, Mr. Aleksandar Spasov from NALAS and Ms. Lea Pavlovikj Sejfula from GIZ.
