NALAS is proud to announce the winners of the Green Agenda Champions Recognition Awards, celebrating local self-government units (LSGs) across the Western Balkans that are leading the way in environmental sustainability and green innovation.
Launched in the framework of the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans Action Plan 2021 – 2030 and Tirana Conclusions of the Local Self-Governments Forum 2023, this esteemed recognition celebrates cities/municipalities that demonstrate outstanding commitment and innovative approaches to environmental sustainability, urban greenery, green growth and ecoconscious initiatives.
The 2023 Green Champions of the Western Balkans were recognised in the following categories:
Commitment to Environmental Conservation and Protection and Biodiversity: City of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Fostering Community Engagement and Awareness on Circular Economy / Environment: Korçë County, Albania
Innovation and Creativity in Addressing Environmental Challenges – Depollution: Municipality of Kamenicë, Kosovo*
Decarbonisation: Municipality of Nikšić, Montenegro
Sustainable Agriculture Practices: Municipality of Kavadarci, North Macedonia
Sustainable Transport: Municipality of Kruševac, Serbia
