NALAS General Assembly Meeting
The Fifth NALAS General Assembly Meeting - “EU Integration – Challenge for Local Governments in South East Europe” - took place in Istanbul, on 10 and 11 December 2009. This event was organized with the support of the Union of Municipalities of Marmara. This meeting included two round tables and a marketplace. At the meeting NALAS elected its new presidency consisting of Mr Vladimir Moskov, Mr Refik Rrugeja, Mr Özgen Keskin and Mr Anton Peršak.

The NALAS General Assembly Meeting in 2008 took place in Tirana on 23 and 24 November 2008 and combined three very important events into one. The first event brought up discussion on the global economic crisis and the response from South East Europe. Titled "Fiscal Decentralisation in SEE in the context of Global Economic Crisis", the round table discussion led to policy recommendations, which NALAS members shared with local governments in South East Europe, as well as ministries of finance and other relevant institutions. The second event was a donor meeting, which gathered supporting institutions active in South East Europe together with local government associations to discuss institutional development support to local government associations in SEE. The third event was the NALAS plenary session, where the NALAS Secretariat and the host associations of the NALAS Task Forces presented the major achievemens during the year and statutory decisions were made. This very productive meeting was hosted by the Association of Albanian Municipalities.

The Third NALAS General Assembly Meeting was held in Bucharest, on 14 December 2007. It was organized with support of Romanian Federation of Local Authorities. Delegates, liaison officers, as well as experts from all member associations were present and participated actively. Seventeen delegates of the total number of 24 delegates of the NALAS General Assembly attended the meeting. NALAS now has a new presidency and Work Plan and budget for 2008. Full report
